A quick backstory...
A few months ago, I hit a severe rough patch in my personal life. My husband underwent foot surgery, which landed him on crutches for a little more than 10 weeks. At the same time, I was in the third-trimester of my third pregnancy, and we also already had a 2 and 4 year old at home.To say I was exhausted during this phase would be an understatement.
I was cranky. I was irritable. I was not putting forth my best effort into any of my close relationships. Hitting this low point also left me wondering if what I was doing with my life was really what God had called me to do.
I felt I had lost the joy that I once had when I was younger. Like the things that needed to be done were so grossly outweighing any time I had for connection and creativity, and living this way was slowing sucking the joy right out of me.
However, the best part about hitting such a low point, is that the only way to go from there is up.
So I began spending more time learning by reading, both online articles and books. I began working harder at my relationship with God through prayer and devotionals. But the best thing that came out of this not-so-fun phase of life, was that I started writing. Mostly as a creative outlet at first, but then I realized that perhaps what I was learning could benefit others who were going through a similar point in their life.
What you'll find here...
Simple & Soulful was born out of a need for change in my own life and soul - And a change I'm guessing other women have been considering making for themselves as well.Changes that include learning to slow down, learning to live in the moment, and learning to fully embrace this one, unique, beautiful life we've been given.
Changes that mean more joy, more connection, more fullness, and less running, less perfectionism, and less on our To Do lists.
I will fully and honestly tell you that I do not have all of the answers for living an intentional life. But, I'm hopeful that what I've learned (and continue to learn) will be helpful and encouraging to you.
Here on the blog you'll find articles on building relationships (including marriage and parenting), healthy living (though the ways we take care of this one body we've been given), pursuing our calling (the special things that God has placed in our hearts), and cultivating our own souls (through living simply and focusing on what matters most instead of the should's).
About Kris...
I'm a wife to Cory, Mama to 3 littles, and...
I think life is meant to be filled with joy, connection, and most importantly, living out our true calling that God has placed within us.
I most definitely don't have all the answers, but I'll be sharing everything I learn on these pages here. If you're feeling like life is running you instead of the other way around, please know that you're not alone.
Let's show ourselves some grace and start living with meaning instead of living to survive the next 24 hours.
I hope these writings inspire you to make some changes and help you in some way along your journey.
